Happy Summer Solstice
June 21st marked the first day of summer and is officially the longest day of the year. According to Time and Date, “In terms of daylight, this day is 5 hours, 50 minutes longer than on the December Solstice.”
Here are a few ways you can tap into the energy of the summer:
- Detox: Like other seasonal changes the summer solstice is opportunity to let go of the old and make space for the new. The energy of the summer is one of expansion. You will want to focus on releasing things that keep you from being the greatest expression of your higher self. It is also a great time to start cleanse. During this time of the year your heart and small intestines are active and more receptive for cleansing. Focus on rituals that allow you to release past hurts. You can also practice a series of heart opening yoga poses. To cleanse your small intestines you can do a juice fast for a period of 3, 7, 14, or 21 days.
- Set intentions: Take the time to write down what you want to manifest in this forthcoming season. The law of attraction in its simplest understanding states, "Like attracts LIke " by focusing on what you desire and not past failures you will see a major shift in how things manifest in your life.
- Take action: We often hear the adage, "Knowledge is Power," but as we explore it a bit more we will realize that the most important part is left out. Revised it would read, "Knowledge is POWER with action." What you know means nothing if you do not apply actively in your life. A great a example I reference with my clients is smoking cigarettes. Everyone knows it has a negative impact on our health but it does not change the fact that a ton of people smoke. I challenge you to take action. Do a one day detox. Start your yoga practice. Let your actions aligns with the intentions you set. I promise you will reap the rewards.
